What better way to show your horse that you love them than with a yummy reward? When the weather starts cooling down and the leaves begin to change, we get to cozy up with pumpkin spice lattes, and our horses deserve a special treat, too. Fall in love with these pumpkin spice horse treats for your four-legged best friend.
What you’ll need:
cookie sheets
cookie cutter (pumpkin shape highly encouraged)
1 can pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling!)
5 cups oat flour
1 tbsp cinnamon
1 cup molasses
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup ground flax meal
royal icing
food coloring
Instructions:
Preheat the oven to 350º and line two baking sheets with parchment paper
In a large mixing bowl, combine your dry ingredients.
In a separate bowl, mix together pumpkin puree and molasses. Pour wet ingredients into dry until a dough is formed. Let cool in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Using a floured surface, roll out your dough to about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick. Take your pumpkin cookie cutter and cut out as many pumpkins as you can.
Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are no longer moist (you want them to be hard when you decorate them).
Once your cookies have cooled completely, use your colored icing to make the cutest pumpkin cookies ever! However, if you choose not to decorate them, your horse will still love them!
