Fire and Ice Horse Rescue now requires all potential adopters to complete at least one sponsorship cycle prior to adopting a rescue horse. After the first sponsorship cycle expires the potential adopter may then complete the adoption application. This program helps to ease the horse’s transition and also encourages a continuity of care and horsemanship. It also allows everyone involved a time period to evaluate a potential match of horse and adopter.
Sponsorship is a great way to increase horsemanship skills and to get to know your potential new rescue horse. The sponsorship cycle includes 10 sessions with Jennifer and the rescue horse. These sessions include ground work and riding. The degree of riding and ground work will be contingent on the rider’s ability and horsemanship knowledge.
